KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Chyasal Youth Club took a giant stride in the Martyrs Memorial B Division League football tournament after its 1-0 win over Samajik Youth Club on Tuesday.
The event had resumed Tuesday after a five-day break.
The win, third in a row from four matches, lifted Chyasal to second from fifth place with nine points, a point adrift of leader New Road Team. Chyasal has won all three matches after losing its opening match against Shree Kumari.
Chyasal broke the deadlock in the second half following a drab show from both sides before the interval. Susan Rai netted the all important goal in the 65th minute in the event played at the APF grounds at Halchowk.
Samajik is at the bottom of the table and is yet to open its account after playing equal four matches.
In another match played at the same venue, Nayabasti Youth Club and Tusal Youth Club shared points following a goalless draw. Tusal has seven points from four matches while Nayabasti has two points.
In the only match played at the ANFA ground, Satdobato, Ripu Bhulan was twice on target for Satdobato Youth Club in its 2-1 win over Mahabir Club.
Ripu opened the scoring in the 23rd minute but Saroj Thapa hit back an equalizer in the 39th minute. Ripu netted the winning goal with a header for Satdobato eight minutes from time.
Satdobato accumulated six points after its second win from four matches while Mahabir has only one point from as many matches played.
