‘Ford v Ferrari’, which stars Christian Bale, Matt Damon, John Lucas, Caitriona Balfe and Jon Bernthal, among others, have received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. This is not the first time that Bale and Lucas share screen space though. The two have been co-stars in ‘American Psycho’, which released two decades ago. And in a recent interview, Bale revealed that at the time of shooting that film, his co-stars actually thought he was the worst actor ever.
The film had Bale playing the character of serial killer Patrick Bateman and he didn’t exactly come across as a good actor back then to his co-actors on the set. Several of them, Bale said, didn’t understand his method acting techniques and would be unnerved with his behaviour on the set. Chloe Sevigny, who also starred in the film, said she often felt unnerved and awkward while interacting with him in-between takes.
The film gave a huge boost to Bale’s career, who went on to play a number of iconic characters, including Batman. Unfortunately, his co-stars didn’t think much of his acting techniques back then while the film was being shot. Bale has been candid enough to admit that he knew what his co-stars thought about him, but never let it affect him.
