CHITWAN, Dec 25: Of the patients who visited the District Hospital, Chitwan since July this year, 243 have been confirmed to have contracted dengue and 286 are scrub typhus patients, said the hospital.
Of the dengue infected, 149 are from the district and 94 from outside, said the health office, adding that the infected people are in normal condition.
Take effective measures to stop the spread of scrub typhus
Likewise, of the scrub typhus patients, 149 are from the district and 137 from outside. One died from scrub typhus earlier this year.
The dengue infection rate in the district has decreased as compared to the previous year, thanks to effective measures to control the disease, said the office chief Dipak Tiwari. In fiscal year, 2019/20, 4,803 people were infected with dengue and out of them, three succumbed. There are no risks of the diseases this year, said Tiwari.
At present, local units in the district have launched an awareness campaign to control dengue. Of the 127 scrub typhus infected people in FY 2019/20, two succumbed, said Gitanjali Dhakal, information officer at the health office.
