KATHMANDU, March 25: The Foreign Minister of People’s Republic China and State Councilor Wang Yi, who is arriving in Kathmandu at 4PM today on a three day official visit  is set to meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur on Saturday, according to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Similarly, the source added that the Chinese delegate will also meet Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka on the same day. 

“According to the schedule, the Chinese Foreign Minister will meet the President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday,” the source said. 

Wang is visiting Nepal at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dr Khadka. He is also scheduled to meet some top leader of political parties but the details are not disclosed yet.

According to foreign affairs experts, the vist by the Chinese FM is meaninful as it is taking place hot on heels of Nepal ratifying the US-funded Millenim Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement through parliament with interpretetive declaration. 

It is learnt that China did not want Nepal to ratify the MCC compact agreement.
