KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song had a courtesy meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Narayankaji Shrestha.
In the meeting held today at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, mutual relations, the relationship between the two countries, and the projects being promoted by China in Nepal were discussed. Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha and the Chinese ambassador congratulated each other and wished each other a successful tenure, said Keshav Kumar Sharma, the secretary of the ministry who participated in the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha expressed his hope that the people-to-people relations between the two countries will further expand while wishing Song, who has been appointed as the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, a successful tenure.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha also urged the Chinese side to speed up the work of expanding the Kalanki-Chabahil road section of the ring road, which has not seen progress for a long time. The Chinese side requested the Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha to remove some obstacles at the project site immediately.
Similarly, Secretary Sharma mentioned that there was a general conversation on the occasion about other projects that are going forward under this ministry with the help of the Chinese government. On that occasion, it was also discussed that the Chinese side will further expand the cooperation, advance and support the ongoing projects and further the study of some projects.
Similarly, there was also a discussion about providing more support in the repair and expansion of the Araniko Highway. Besides the Tokha-Chhare tunnel, Sankhuwasabha-Kimathanka road section, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha drew the attention of the Chinese ambassador to the issue of border opening. In the meeting, Minister Shrestha also expressed his interest in the upgrading of the Mugling-Pokhara and Narayanghat-Butwal roads.
