KATHMANDU, Dec 1: A Chinese delegation from Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences (YASS) has held an interaction with the representatives of China Study Center in Kathmandu.

Leading a five-member delegation, YASS Vice-President Professor Huang Xiaojun is currently paying a visit to Nepal.

On the occasion, as a guest of honor, Secretary General of Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist Leninist) CP Mainali briefed the delegation about the evolution of communist movement in Nepal including the recent unification of two communist parties.

During his address, he opined that Mao’s concept of Socialism with Chinese characteristics was an innovative concept which played a contributory role in adding to the scope of socialism on its own way, according to a press release issued by China Study Centre.

Officiating Chairman of China Study Centre Sundar  Nath Bhattarai expressed happiness over the excellent relationship between Nepal and China. He said that the recently-concluded historic visit of President Xi Jinping to Nepal has elevated ties to a new height.

"Our ties have entered to strategic partnership. Both countries are committed to working together for the maintenance of peace and stability in the region," Bhattarai observed.

Professor Mohan Lohani, the advisor to the centre, described President Xi's Nepal visit after a gap of 23 years as an event of historic significance. The visit, he remarked, opened up new avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, including cross-Himalayan multidimensional connectivity network.

"The people of Nepal look forward to benefiting from the spectacular growth of the Chinese economy," he said.

Vice-President Professor Huang, on behalf of his delegation, appreciated the progress being made by Nepal by the new government. He underlined the importance of Nepal-China relations. He believed that the friendly ties would continue to flourish in the years ahead with substantial cooperation between the governments and people of the two countries.
