The Chinese News Agency Xinhua , on Friday, reported that the plane with the election materials landed in the capital this morning, which include ballot papers and office materials. [break]
Some four months ago, an agreement between the two countries was signed to support for holding fresh CA election in Nepal during the visit of Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi.
Similarly, during a Foreign Secretary-level meeting held at the end of August in Beijing, the Chinese side had reiterated its support for holding the CA elections.
Chinese envoy to Nepal, Wu Chuntai, and Election Commission’s joint secretary Maheshow Neupane received the materials at the International Airport.
“The Chinese assistance to Nepal for the election has proved once again that the two countries harbor a clean friendship,” Xinhua quoted Neupane in its report on Friday.
"China has always supported in the democratic process of Nepal. With this assistance we will be able to manage our logistics more conveniently. We are on track to hold the election in the scheduled date and we will hold it in a grand manner," said Neupane.
Talking to the Chinese News Agency, Neupane said that the Home Ministry will be tightening up the security by deploying 61,000 Nepal Army personnel, more than 29,000 Armed Police Force personnel, 60,000 Nepal Police personnel and about 45,000 volunteers.
After receiving the election materials, Envoy Chuntai said, “Nepal and China have been good neighbors and friends, and hoped that the assistance would help to conduct the election in an efficient way.”
