KATHMANDU, April 22: Art is considered a significant genre for its capacity to present lively narratives about human culture and history concerning any geography or the nation or any human civilization.

This is not the definition given by the people of other field but artists themselves. Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Kanchha Kumar Karmacharya said the art had its own significance as it helped build the identity of the nation and served as the representation of any nation.

He was putting his views while receiving a group of Chinese artists who have been here to create field-based artworks. The culture of artists of one nation visiting another country for the creations of field-based works would obviously help further consolidate the bilateral ties and for the promotion of tourism, he said. The team comprising 18 artists from the northern neighbor has been here since the past 10 days.

Their works are based on the theme of Nepali culture and lifestyle. They have promised to present their works in China in a bid to promote Nepal’s tourism. The team has already visited the historic areas in the Kathmandu Valley—Swoyambhu, Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Nagarkot, Pokhara and Bhaktapur
