Chinese actress Xu visiting Nepal again in December to promote Visit Nepal 2020 in China

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Chinese Actress Xu Qing, who has been appointed as goodwill ambassador for the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign, is visiting Nepal again in the first week of December to help further promote Nepal’s tourism in China.

Officials at the Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat said actress Xu will be visiting Nepal along with a few artistes from the Chinese film industry to see how Nepal can be further promoted among Chinese nationals. 

“She will be visiting Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini, Pokhara and Bardiya National Park. She is scheduled to take pictures and film video to promote Nepal among Chinese nationals,” said Program Coordinator at Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat Bishwambhar Ghimire. 

As per the initial itinerary, actress Xu will be staying in Kathmandu for two days and will then visit Sauraha, where she will be staying for another two days to take pictures and film her video. 

Her next stop will be Lumbini and Bardiya National Park where she will spend two days each for preparing publicity materials.  

Actress Xu is scheduled to spend three days in Pokhara to visit various tourist destinations in the area. She had prepared a number of publicity materials about Pokhara during her previous visit to Nepal in October as well. 

Xu is one of the most popular actresses in China. She has over 15 million followers in Chinese social media Weibo.  

She was appointed goodwill ambassador for the Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign on October 19. Nepal expects to bring in at least 2 million tourists in the year 2020 through publicity campaign. 

Besides China, the government of Nepal has also appointed goodwill ambassadors to various other countries including France, Lebanon, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Ireland, UK, Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand and Hong Kong. 

The other goodwill ambassadors for the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign include Eric Valli (France), Joyce Azzam (Lebanon), Hiromi Ishioka and Mariko Hayashi (Japan), Un Hong Gil and Van San Singh (South Korea), Johan Ernst Nilson (Sweden), Daithi O Murchu (Ireland) and Baroness Verma, Joanna Lumley and GP Hundya (UK).
