China Cultural Center in Nepal has launched a virtual event "Mid-Autumn Festival: A Moon Moment to Remember" with an aim to promote cultural exchanges between the people of two countries on the occasion of Moon Festival.

The virtual event began on September 18, which will continue till September 25 in its different platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WeChat.

According to a press statement released by China Cultural Center in Nepal, it integrates elements of virtual tours, online concerts, short videos, and micro classes to present various aspects of the festival including culture, customs, inheritance and entertainment to the Nepal people.

The festival is celebrated by Chinese people by admiring and worshiping the full moon, gathering for family dinners, lighting paper lanterns and most importantly eating mooncakes.

According to the China Cultural Center based in Kathmandu, this colorful digital event will allow the Nepali people to truly feel the profoundness of the festival by staying at home itself and to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese culture. Though in the past, the China Cultural Center in Nepal used to host several physical events to mark the festivity, this year the event has been limited to the online one due to the pandemic.

"We believe art and culture can bring people of China and Nepal together to understand each other better and share harmony. Thus, the festivals are of great opportunity to share history and traditions, inspire each other and form connections," Xiao Jiang, Director at China Cultural Center in Nepal, remarked.

As part of the event, a virtual tour has been launched entitled "Xinjiang is a Nice Place: A VR Tour", which is composed of five experience sections like dance, travel, food, instrument and love, combining culture, art and history.

Similarly, the event comprises a concert including live performances from multiple angles, folk music, and the tourist videos. There is also art appreciation microclass displaying paintings featuring the culture of the festival.

Besides, there is also a showcase of a micro documentary that focuses on the unique charm of Chinese local culture and tourism. The first episode "A Panda Home Tour" is being aired, according to the Center.
