Children undergoing regular health checkup to get allowance

KHOTANG, May 15: In order to promote child health, Diprung Chuichamcha Rural Municipality of Khotang district has made a decision to provide allowance to children below two years of age who regularly go for health check-up. 

A toddler whose mother had gone for health check-up for four times during pregnancy, who has received all the injections required after birth and is taken for regular check-up and also has a birth certificate will be provided with Rs 1, 000 per month, according to Bhupendra Rai, chairperson of the rural municipality. 

As per the authentication provided by local health posts, the rural municipality has already provided allowance to children of Renuka Khadka, Misan Bhujel, Denisha Khadka, Priyanka Tamang of Diprung Chukichamcha-5 and Nainkumari Karki of Diprung Chuichamcha-6. According to Chairperson Rai, the aim of conducting this program is to produce healthy citizens for creating healthy nation. 

But only two children of a couple can receive this allowance. "There are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled to receive the allowance," said Chairperson Rai.

Besides providing the allowance, the rural municipality has started providing motivation allowance of Rs 500 per month to female health workers.
