BAJURA, Jan 2: The vaccines that should have been made available to children of Kolti by December has not been delivered by the government yet. More than a hundred children in the region have been deprived of this health service. According to public health officer in Bajura, Ashok Singh, the vaccines couldn't be provided this month after the freezer at Kolti Primary Health Center got damaged.

It is essential to vaccinate newborns periodically till they reach twelve months from birth to prevent many diseases that may appear in future. Sadly, children of rural areas like Bajura have been deprived of this facility. Women were waiting for their children to be vaccinated. However, the delay in delivery of vaccines to the villages on time has infuriated the locals. They have blamed the government of utmost negligence and violation of child right.

“Due to the inability to produce ice, the vaccination service has come to a halt,” said Om Jung Shahi, chief of Kolti Primary Health Center, adding, “The vaccines are not safe without the proper working of the refrigerator. So, the vaccination cannot be restarted till the refrigerator gets repaired.”
