Child killed in microbus-hit, woman injured

SAPTARI, Sept 15: A child has died after being hit by a microbus in front of the Kankalini Temple, Bhardaha, Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-1, Saptari along the East-West Highway on Sunday.


The microbus (Pra 1-02-001 Ja 3866) en route to Sunsari from Bhardaha hit Kari Adhikari's wife Anita Devi Adhikari, 50, and his 10-month-old grandson Adarsha ​​Adhikari who were standing on the side of the road.

Dundi Raj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office said that Adarsha, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, died while undergoing treatment at Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar. Anita Devi Adhikari, who was injured in the accident, has sustained injuries on her head, chest, and left leg. She is currently receiving treatment.


Police said that the driver, Abdul Satar, 32, a resident of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, has been detained and is being investigated.


Following the accident, the locals have blocked the East-west Highway.
