KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Chief Minister of Province 1 Bhim Acharya has announced his resignation from the post. Acharya announced his resignation even before taking the vote of confidence at the provincial assembly.
Acharya, who was appointed as the chief minister on August 26, was left in the minority on September 10 following the split of the CPN-UML.
Achaya, who fell into the minority after 10 lawmakers of the CPN-UML shifted their support to the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN (Unified Socialist), had sought a vote of confidence under the constitutional process.
Although Acharya thought of leaving the government after his party fell into the minority, he said that he was not allowed to leave the office due to the expectation of the people on him and the workload he had as the chief minister.
