KANCHANPUR, April 23: Nepal Fertilizers Industry has decided to set up a factory to produce chemical fertilizer locally at Baluwaphanta of Krishnapur Municipality-6 by utilizing raw materials available within the country.
Preparations are underway to operate the factory within the coming mid-July. The plan is to produce DAP, NTK and potassium in the first phase. Factory proprietor Umakant Joshi said, “Two more chemical fertilizers will be produced before December.”
Phosphorus from Baitadi would be used as a raw material for the fertilizer. Other chemicals and machines will be brought from Germany, he said, adding that they have planned to produce 10 metric tons of fertilizer every year.

Even the works for physical infrastructures began for the undertaking. The proprietor has claimed that it will be the first factory to produce chemical fertilizer by using the raw materials available within the country.
The factory will have the investment of Rs 137 million. The factory will be built in an area of 7,500 square feet. The factory will employ 50 persons directly.
Mayor of Krishnapur Municipality, Karna Bahadur Hamal said that the factory would be a pride project in the city. "Farmers in Nepal suffer from the lack of chemical fertilizers. Once the factory produces quality fertilizers, it will be a huge relief to the farmers in Sudurpaschim Province," he added.
The mayor also made a commitment that the municipality would extend utmost support for running the factory.
