Chand-led Maoist cadre arrested for his involvement in detonating bomb at former Minister Baskota’s house

KATHMANDU, July 1: Police have arrested an individual on the charge of exploding bombs at the house of former Minister for Information and Communication Gokul Prasad Baskota in Bhaktapur.

KATHMANDU, July 1: Police have arrested an individual on the charge of exploding bombs at the house of former Minister for Information and Communication Gokul Prasad Baskota in Bhaktapur.


A team of police from the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, arrested a 43-year-old Ain Bahadur Shahi from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-1 Wednesday morning. Shahi is a member of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.

On March 11, a powerful pressure cooker bomb was detonated at the newly-constructed house of Baskota at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-1, Lokanthali Manohara.


Police have already arrested three other individuals allegedly involved in the incident. The arrested have been kept in judicial custody at Dillibazar Prison for further investigation. Police is preparing to present the arrested persons before Bhaktapur District Court.
