Chand-led CPN cadres held with explosive devices

CHITWAN, May 9:  Police have arrested cadres of Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand with explosive devices on Tuesday.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan the cadres were arrested with explosive devices from Shivghat of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-11.

The arrested are Puran Rai, 36 of Khotang, currently staying in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-17 and Shankar Gurung, 31 of BMC-7, according to DSP Dipak Shrestha.

Rai is the in-charge of Chitwan, Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa under the Federation of All Nepal Revolutionary Trade Union.  He is also the CPN Chitwan District Party member and deputy commander of militia squad.

Similarly, Shankar Gurung is the member of Chitwan Area no. 10, according to police. Police intercepted them while they were heading to west from Narayangadh on a motorcycle Na 3 Pa 3065.

Police recovered explosive devices hidden in a plastic bag, shrapnel of hand grenade, detonators, a fake revolver, among others.

They will be penalized under the explosive devices act.
