KATHMANDU, May 15: Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi and top brass of UCPN (Maoist) held talks on Wednesday with regard to giving final touches to the Constituent Assembly election-related ordinance and the announcement of election date.
The meeting held at Baluwatar mainly dwelt on the announcement of poll date, and the provisions of proportional representation (PR) threshold and allocation of number of lawmakers under PR system to be embodied in the ordinance, a press statement issued by Chairman Regmi’s press advisor Bimal Gautam said. The government head had held similar consultation with top leader of CPN UML on Tuesday morning after his meeting with Nepali Congress top brass on the same issue on Monday evening. Regmi is due to hold such consultation with leaders of other political parties as well.
Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairmen Baburam Bhattarai and Narayankaji Shrestha represented the Maoist party in the meeting. Home Minister Madhab Prasad Ghimire, who heads the government´s consultation and coordination committee formed to settle the issues, and other committee members, were also present on the occasion.
Maoist top brass consults PLA on integration
