KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has warned of scrapping the candidacy of those candidates who are found breaching the election code of conduct.
Addressing an orientation program organized to inform the political parties how to field candidates proportionally as stated in the electoral laws, CEC Yadav reminded the parties the provisions of election code of conduct and warned of taking action against violators.
At the function, CEC Yadav urged the political leaders not to doubt that the scheduled elections would be delayed or postponed. "I urge you all not to cast any doubt on conducting the polls within the set date," said election chief Yadav.
Stating that the election law requires the parties to submit marked lists while fielding candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) category, CEC Yadav urged all political parties to follow the legal provisions and make the candidate selection process inclusive.
The EC is holding the first round of parliamentary and provincial elections on November 26 while the second round of elections will be held on December 7.
