CDOs decide to recommend to govt to ease lockdown restrictions

KATHMANDU, June 4: A joint meeting of the chief district officers of the Kathmandu Valley has decided to recommend to the government to allow the market to open by following ‘social distancing’ measures.

Though the government has enforced a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the county, businesses in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday decided to open their shops till 11 in the morning

Following the decision of the businesses, chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held a meeting with businesses today, and decided to recommend to the government to ease the restrictions on businesses.

According to Janak Raj Dahal, chief district officer of Kathmandu, the meeting has decided to recommend to the government to change the model of the lockdown following suggestions from the business community. “The decisions of the meeting will also be sent to the COVID-19 Protection and Prevention Committee formed by the government,” said Dahal.

During the meeting, business persons said that the government should allow open business and industry and market from 11 am to 5 pm.
