RAUTAHAT, Jan 30: In yet another spate of attack in Rajpur Municipality-9, Bairiya, a local has been injured after being shot at by a 'fellow villager' on Monday.

Shekh Samiullah, 35, of Bairiya was shot on his back near Bakaiya River while he was going to his field.  Samiullah, who is involved in the business of importing and exporting ox, cows, and buffaloes from India, was shot in broad daylight. Locals had immediately gathered at the spot as soon as they heard his cry.  Taking advantage of the dense fog, the perpetrator was successful in escaping.

Samiullah was immediately taken to District Hospital Gaur for treatment in an unconscious state. After becoming conscious, Samiullah accused Shekh Mangni of the same village of shooting at him due to personal grudge.

According to him, Mangni had called him on the field with the aim of killing him. Both of them were jointly involved in the smuggling of cattle since years but they were having some disputes since a few days.

As of now, police have not arrested anyone as Shekh Mangni is currently at large. DSP Ram Kumar Dani of District Police Office, Rautahat informed that the victim has been taken to Birgunj National Medical College for further treatment.

Last week, eight-year-old Mufajul Devan of the same village was killed with his throat slit by unknown persons.  The perpetrators involved in his killing are still not nabbed. As many as two dozen people have been kept under watch but still the culprit is at large.
