KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Cartoonz Crew, a rising hip-hop dance crew famous for putting viral dance videos, surprised the students and staffs at British Council in Lazimpat with their mini-flash mob dance on Wednesday afternoon.
The seven member group gave an eight minute long performance in the British Council’s lobby. Their set included the ‘Blockade’ dance – a satirical take on last year’s Nepal blockade – and their most popular dance cover of singer/songwriter Almoda Rana Uprety’s song ‘Funtastic’.

“I had heard about the group from my friends but haven’t gone through their videos. After watching them live for the first time, I was blown away by their moves,” said Sandhya Singtan Lama, a student from Sindhuli, who is currently preparing for her IELTS at the council’s learning center.
According to British Council, Cartoonz Crew’s surprise performance was a part of their ‘Customer Service Week’ – a global event celebrated in British Councils operating all over the world – that was marked from October 3 through October 7 in Nepal. Throughout the customer service week, Council conducted quizzes on Facebook and interactive games and contest at its Kathmandu based center.
“These fun activities give us an opportunity to engage with students at our centers to get honest feedback about our services,” said Suchita Shrestha, British Council’s marketing communication and learning center manager.
