KATHMANDU, Mar 4: The Election Commission (EC) has set Rs 400,000 as election expenses for a candidate contesting the presidential election set for March 13.
A board meeting of the election body on Sunday set the limit for presidential election expenses. The EC has already established an election office at New Baneshwar-based International Convention Center for conducting the presidential election. Til Prasad Shrestha, a judge of Patan High Court, has been appointed as chief election officer to conduct the presidential election.

After successfully conducting the three sets of elections -- local, provincial and parliamentary -- the election body has expedited poll preparations to elect the president and vice-president. Presidential candidates have been asked to register their candidacy on March 7.
Members of the central parliament and provincial assemblies will elect the new president. Left Alliance and Nepali Congress are likely to field their respective candidates for the post of president.
