POKHARA, Feb 4: Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Keshab Kumar Bista stressed the need for developing Pokhara as a city of sports.
Saying sports and tourism could go hand in hand, he informed that they have already made preparation to hold six games (Women's football, men and women's volleyball, archery, triathlon, badminton and handball) under the South Asian Games (SAG) in the city of lakes. The next SAG is scheduled to hold in Nepal in March 2019.
At a news conference organised by Sports Journalist Forum, Kaski, here today, he said that discussions were underway to organise other two games in the city (boxing and wushu.
For the SAG, Rs 1.25 billion has been released to construct parapet at the Pokhara Stadium, while Rs 45 million for the construction of a lawn tennis court, he said, adding that constructions of other infrastructures were going on.
