KATHMANDU, Aug 5: The government has decided to scrap the nomination of ambassadors recommended by the erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led government.
A Cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar today cancelled the recommendation of 14 ambassadors made by the previous government on the basis of their political background, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed journalists following the meeting.
The Oli government had recommended names of 22 people – eight from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 14 from the political background – for the ambassadorial berths.
Of them, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Khadga Bahadur KC, Narad Bhardwaj (Wagle), Shivamaya Tumbahamphe and Ali Akhtar Mikrani were scheduled to undergo parliamentary hearing today itself.
