KATHMANDU, Jan 18: A meeting to form a consensus among the ruling coalition parties on holding local-level elections is currently underway at the official residence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Baluwatar.

The meeting is called to form a common view of the ruling coalition amid pressure from the Election Commission and the main opposition UML to announce the date of local elections.

It will discuss the dates for the local elections as well as the National Assembly elections, scheduled for January 26. Discussion is also underway on whether to hold the local level election in March or all three-level elections at once in November.
