KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The government has decided to accept grant assistance of up to Rs 2.61 billion from the Japanese government for the implementation of Biratnagar Drinking Water Improvement Project.

Announcing the decision of the Council of Ministers that was made on January 24, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Spokesperson for the Government of Nepal and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, also said that it has been decided to give permission to the University of Agriculture and Forest Sciences to lease government land.

The Council of Ministers has also decided to approve the acquisition of land for various transmission line and substation projects under the Nepal Electricity Authority and appoint an officer to take preliminary action. The government has given in-principle approval for reviewing the organization and management survey. The meeting also gave approval to acquire about 20 ropanis and 15 aanas of land owned by the locals spread north and east of the barracks perimeter of the first rifle battalion of the Nepali Army in Bhojpur.

Similarly, the Council of Ministers has also given approval to use the land within the forest area of ​​Shuklaphanta Municipality and Godavari Municipality for the establishment of integrated garbage management plants in Kanchanpur and Kailali. The government has also allowed the destruction of the postage stamps and postal stationery that have been printed yet unpublished and could not be brought into circulation at different times, according to the law.

Likewise, the meeting decided to approve the temporary posts of the Health Insurance Board and to appoint and post the Gazetted Second Class Officers of various service groups as Gazetted First Class Joint Secretaries of the respective service groups on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
