KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently in Singapore for his health check-up, convened a cabinet meeting through video conferencing on Monday.

The prime minister addressed the cabinet colleagues for about an hour through the video conferencing from Singapore, it is learned.

The meeting was attended by Acting Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel and cabinet ministers at Singh Durbar, the central administrative secretariat. Decisions taken by today's cabinet meeting will be made public coming Thursday.

This is the first time the cabinet meeting held through video conference, using the advanced information technology. Till now, the prime minister could hold cabinet meetings only inside the country.

Earlier on Wednesday, a cabinet meeting had decided to bring the necessary amendment to the (Transaction of Business) Regulations-2008 in order to pave the way for holding cabinet meeting through video conferencing from outside the country.

The government made the decision to this effect amid PM Oli's worsening health condition, which required him to spend time in foreign countries for the health check-up.
