FM Dr Mahat to present budget in Parliament at 4 pm after briefing President

KATHMANDU, May 29: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called a cabinet meeting to pass the budget for the new Fiscal Year (FY) 2023/24, internal debt and other bills.

The meeting will be held at 1 pm at Singh Durbar. After the cabinet meeting passes the budget, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Saran Mahat is scheduled to brief President Ram Chandra Paudel about the new budget.

Finance Minister Dr Mahat is then scheduled to read the budget at the joint meeting of the federal parliament. A joint meeting of the federal parliament has been called for 4 pm for the budget speech.

Sources said the government is presenting a budget of Rs 1.715 trillion with an economic growth target of 6.5 percent in parliament.
