KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The government has decided to deposit one month’s salary of the Prime Minister and all cabinet members into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the floods.
A Cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on August 28, 2026, also directed the Ministry of Finance to prepare a relief and rehabilitation package for individuals and businesses affected by the floods in Rasuwagadhi, the Bhotekoshi River and downstream areas along the Nepal-China border.

The package will cover measures to support the recovery and rehabilitation of affected individuals and businesses, with the Finance Ministry tasked with preparing and moving ahead with its implementation.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval to purchase 25,000 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser from India through a government-to-government (G2G) procurement process. The Agriculture Inputs Company Limited will carry out the procurement.
