BIRGUNJ, June 23: Local businessmen have teamed up against ongoing donation drive in the entire Narayani zone. With the announcement of election dates for the Constituent Assembly, different political parties and groups have intensified donation drive drawing criticism from businesspersons in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Makawanpur districts. Local chambers of commerce and industries in these districts on Sunday said they would jointly oppose forceful donation collection.

“We have to decided to collectively stand against forceful donation collection as the economic sector has already been bled white by different groups, political parties and their cadres,” a joint statement issued by these chambers said.

Local business people have filed complaint at the Narayani Zonal Police Office (NZPO) against the donation drive.

“We have received complaints from the business people,” Sarbendra Khanal, Senior Superintendent of Police at NZPO, said. “I have asked them to come up with proof of forceful donations so that police can take action against the perpetrators as per the existing laws.”
