Dang-bound bus meets with accident, injuring 29

Among the injured, the condition of three people is reportedly critical.

KATHMANDU, July 13: A passenger bus bearing the number plate Lu Pra 02-001 Kha 0045, en route to Dang from Kathmandu, met with an accident at Belnadi, Buddhabhumi Municipality-9, along the East-West Highway.



Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohan Mani Adhikari, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, told Republica that the bus lost control and overturned on the right side of the road at around 3:45 AM on Sunday, injuring 29 passengers.

Among them, 3 sustained serious injuries, 20 suffered moderate injuries, and 6 had minor injuries. Of the total 29 injured, 6 have been referred to Butwal for further treatment, 10 have been discharged after treatment, and 13 are undergoing treatment at Sanjivani Community Hospital in Chandrauta, Kapilvastu.


The bus driver, identified as Nabin Pandey, is in contact with the police. The bus was moved to the roadside with the help of a crane, and two-way traffic has since resumed.


Further investigation into the accident is underway, DSP Adhikari said.
