Budget delayed over impeachment row

KATHMANDU, May 29: The budget for the fiscal year 2017/18 has been delayed over the row of the impeachment of Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara was supposed to present the budget at 4 pm.

UML had said that it would not allow the fiscal budget unless the government withdraws the impeachment of Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

“The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) had torn the ballot papers in Chitwan, breaching the constitutional provisions. UML will not allow the budget unless the impeachment of Chief Justice Sushila Karli is withdrawn,” said UML lawmaker Gokarna Bistha nstitutional provisions.  

The top leaders of the CPN-UML are holding a meeting in New Baneshwar after the impeachment motion of Chief Justice Sushila Karki was not withdrawn, Lawmaker Rewati Raman Bhandari told Republica Online.

It is learnt that ruling coalition leaders are also taking part in the meeting to sort out the issue related to the impeachment row.
