Buddha Air aircraft skids off runway, all passengers safe

RUPANDEHI, July 12: A Buddha Air aircraft skidded to the edge of the runway while landing at Gautam Buddha International Airport on Thursday evening. No one was hurt in the incident, officials said.

RUPANDEHI, July 12: A Buddha Air aircraft skidded to the edge of the runway while landing at Gautam Buddha International Airport on Thursday evening. No one was hurt in the incident, officials said.


According to DSP Manohar Prasad Bhatta at the District Police Office Rupandehi, the aircraft's wheel skidded off the runway while landing at the airport.

He stated that flight number 805, which took off from Kathmandu at 9:30 PM last night, skidded while landing from the eastern side of the runway at the airport.


Spokesperson Bhatta said, "All passengers have been safely evacuated from the plane." It was reported that there were 59 passengers on board including crew members.


Spokesperson Bhatta said that the airport remains closed as the aircraft is still on the runway. He mentioned that efforts of Buddha Air's technical team and security personnel to tow the plane to a safe location were unsuccessful. Currently, an additional technical team from Buddha Air is on its way from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa.
