NEPALGUNJ, Nov 25: A fox collided with a Buddha Air aircraft going from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. The fox collided with an ATR-72 at around 7:15 PM on Wednesday while it was on the runway after landing at Nepalgunj Airport.

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Nepalgunj Airport Office Chief Subhash Jha said that the plane landed at 7:15 PM and crashed into a fox while on the runway. He said that a team of engineers came from Kathmandu at night to check the aircraft’s nozzle gear. "The aircraft that crashed into the fox is still in Nepalgunj. It will probably be back in the sky today," he said.

Jha informed Republica that all the passengers on the flight were safe and the passengers from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu were taken to another flight last night. He said that there were five flights to Kathmandu till 10 PM even after the incident took place.

Boars, foxes, porcupines and other wild animals have been repeatedly hit on the runway of Nepalgunj Airport. According to Chief Jha, the locals who come to trim grass inside the airport leave the wires securing the airport loose through which wildlife enter the premises resulting in such accidents.
