KATHMANDU, June 24: Buddha Air has applied at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, seeking permission to operate Nepalgunj-New Delhi flight. 


The privately-owned carrier has asked the ministry to permit it to fly to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi from Nepalgunj Airport three times a day – at 6:30 am, 1pm 5:10 pm.

Buddha Air has said that it would apply at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) soon after receiving permission from the ministry. 


Issuing a statement, Buddha Air said that Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, has assured them to upgrade Nepalgunj Airport into to an international airport. 


There is a need to build immigration building, customs office and arrange other requirements at the Nepalgunj airport. Buddha Air plans to operate its 72-seater aircraft for the flight. Flight time between Nepalgunj and New Delhi will be 1 hours and 10 minutes, according to the airline.
