Everyone grows up listening to short stories. Be it from our grandparents, parents, relatives or teachers. We all had at least one favorite storyteller. And on the occasion of eleventh edition of ‘Short Story Day’ (Laghu Katha Diwas), Laghu Katha Committee and Sarwanaam Theatre jointly organized a felicitation program. Along with that three short dramas were showcased on Thursday at Sarwanaam Theatre, Kalikasthan.

Every year Short Story Day is celebrated for three consecutive days. On the last day of the celebration, two literary figures—Saru Bhakta and Indira Prasai—were honored by cultural expert/scholar Satya Mohan Joshi.

Meanwhile, all three dramas portrayed socio-cultural and socio-political scenario of Nepal such as prevalent bribery system in government sectors, questioning a woman’s character and living simple yet satisfied life.

These dramas were more refreshing than regular dramas. And each drama was performed for around seven minutes. About the drama, Ajay Kumar Yadav, a student in the audience shared, “I prefer short dramas to regular dramas. In my opinion, regular dramas’ plots are stretched in order to make them length appropriate.”
