BRC beats Morang in sudden death

SUNSARI, Nov 28: BRC Club of Bhutan has advanced to the semifinal of the Manmohan Duhabi Gold Cup defeating Morang Football Club in sudden death on Monday. 

The quarterfinal match played in Duhabi of Sunsari was pushed to the penalties after both sides failed to score any goal in the regular playing time. However match was still undecided as both sides ended scoring three goals each on the penalties before sudden death. 

In the penalties, BRC's Nirajan Khadka, Sam Obhimirij, Victor Amobi converted their shots while Bikash Khawas's shot went wide and Subash Rai was denied by Morang goalkeeper Kishor Giri. 

Similarly, Dipak Rai, Bishwa Adhikari, Rajin Dhimal scored on the penalties for Morang while Bijay Dhimal shot wide and Sushil Tamang was denied by BRC goalkeeper Binay Shrestha. 

Florent Koara scored decisive goal for the BRC on sudden death while Morang's Bikram Limbu's shot was saved by BRC's man-of-the-match goalkeeper Binay. 

Morang studded with national players couldn't perform up to the mark. Lack of proper coordination hampered Morang's performance. 

Earlier in the 16th minute of the game, Bartaman Rai of BRC missed a golden scoring opportunity after he shot wide in the one-on-one. In the 59th minute, Morang also failed to take the lead after Captain Dipak Rai hit woodwork. Bishwa Adhikari became second player from Morang to hit the post eight minutes later. Nirajan Khadka got chance to find the breakthrough for BRC however his shot was cleared in the goalline by Morang's Niraj Basnet.
