DHARAN, Sept 27: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) of Dharan has finally resumed operations after its agitating staffers withheld protests on the 17th day on late Monday night.

The employees group 'Karmachari Kalyan Samaj' and management of the hospital reached agreement on pay raise for employees, additional perks and benefits for them, and on starting investigation into 'corruption' at the hospital.

They had put forth a 21-point demand during the protests, including scrapping the High Level Salary Fixation Commission, and provision of allowance and salary in accordance with government rules.

Following the agreements on some key demands, employees removed the padlock from four offices of the hospital's top officials on Tuesday morning.

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Raj Kumar Rauniyar, Registrar Tul Bahadur Shrestha, Director Dr Gauri Shakar Sah, Additional Professor Dr Nidesh Sapkota and Additional Professor Dr Narayan Raj Bhatta represented the BPKIHS during the negotiations while Karmachari Kalyan Samaj was represented by its chairman Surendra Tamang, senior vice-chairman Umesh Thapa, and members including Susan Lama, Shrijana Shrestha and Safal Budhathoki.
