KATHMANDU, April 29: A four-member Nepali boxing team, including two boxers, is leaving for Tashkent, Uzbekistan today to participate in the IBA Men's World Boxing Championships organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
The competition is being held from April 30 to May 14. In the event, Rabin Thapa will compete in the 48 kg category while Bhupendra Thapa will contest in the 63.5 kg weight category.
The two boxers were selected to represent the country based on their performance in the 4th Bir Ganeshman Singh nationwide boxing tournament, according to Spokesperson of Nepal Boxing Association Shyamkaji Awale.
Around 600 boxers from more than 140 countries are taking part in the global tournament.
