Bootleg liquor seized and destroyed

MUSTANG, July 11: The District Administration Office (DAO), Mustang on Sunday confiscated a large amount of bootleg liquor from a distillery company at Marfa area. 

The government team in course of a regular inspection of the market seized 54 bottles of bootleg apple brandy from the company run by Nar Bahadur Hirachan.

The bottles were seized as they did not have excise duty stickers, DAO Mustang Accountant Yamnath Poudel said.

He added that the illegal brew was destroyed after confiscation. Mustang is famous for production of home-made apple brandy. The locals are irate as the DAO also confiscated liquor stored in the private residences for guests.

The market supervision has been intensified in coordination with the concerned stakeholders for the last two months, said Mustang's Assistance Chief District Officer, Mohan Bahadur Thapa. RSS
