Bomb hurled at staff transporting ballot boxes

WEST RUKUM, Nov 27: An unidentified group hurled bomb at staff transporting ballot boxes from Chaurjahari to Musikot, the district’s head quarter. The bomb detonated at Ghartikada of Chaurjahari municipality-6.

Police said that the bomb exploded at 9:50 PM yesterday. Following yesterday’s election of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly, staff were carrying ballot boxes from wards 6, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the municipality. As the bomb exploded on road, staff reported to be safe and the ballot boxes didn’t suffer damage. 


Following the incident, the ballot boxes were stored at area police office of Chaurjahari and are scheduled to arrive at the district headquarter today, Tej Prasad Paudel, assistant election officer said, adding that ballots boxes from all the voting centers are on their way to Musikot. To ensure safety, the Office of the Chief Election Officer has made arrangements to store the boxes at District Coordination Committee.
