Body of woman retrieved from Trishuli river, rescuer injured

MALEKHU, Dhading, Feb 10: The body of a woman, who was among the two persons missing after a jeep they were travelling in plunged into the Trishuli river at Salangghat, Dhading on Saturday morning, has been retrieved from the submerged vehicle. 

The body of 16-year-old Unnati Gupta who was on board along with Secretary at the Ministry of Irrigation, Ramananda Prasad Yadav in the ill-fated jeep has been retrieved, Inspector Sanjaya Timilsina of the Area Police Office, Gajuri, said. 

The jeep was pulled out of the river and the teenager's body was found inside. 

Meanwhile, one of the rescuers of the team of divers from the Armed Police Force base, Kurintar was injured while tying the vehicle and pulling it out of the river. Head constable Taranath Chapain was seriously injured and was rescued by his fellow divers. He has been taken to Kathmandu on an army helicopter for treatment and is admitted to the Army Hospital. 

Irrigation secretary Yadav was driving to Kathmandu from Kapilvastu when his jeep met with an accident. He had gone to his house to arrange for the wedding of his daughter. It is said he had been driving the jeep. Yadav was also killed in the accident. His body was retrieved in the morning today. Yadav's son, 22-year-old Santosh is still missing.
