BIRATNAGAR, Sept 29: Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma has been elected a general convention delegate from Jhapa-1 with the highest number of votes under the party’s 15th General Convention process.
Sharma received 638 votes in the open category, the highest among the candidates. A total of 710 voters were eligible to elect general convention delegates in Jhapa-1.
Ten candidates were elected under the open category: Keshav Raj Pandey, Narayan Giri, Bhupu Rai, Arjun Rai, Prem Sambahamphe, Gopal Tamang, Pushparaj Poudel, Tek Bahadur Limbu, Lok Raj Dhakal and Sharma.
PM Deuba elected as General Convention delegate
In the open women’s category, Kusum Bhattarai Koirala, Rachana Oli Ghimire, Radha Karki and Sushila Rijal were elected.
Under the Khas Arya open category, Dhan Kaji Khatri and Manoj Ghimire were elected, while Chandrakala Bhattarai and Gyanu Thapa Rijal won under the Khas Arya women’s category.
Khagda Bahadur Ghimire and Chakra Sherpa Limbu were elected under the open Indigenous Nationalities category, while Bitu Gurung and Bina Tamang were elected under the Indigenous Nationalities women’s category.
Under the open youth category for candidates below 35, Cholendra Dahal and Bhupendra Singh Thebe were elected, while Nista Niraula Nepal won the youth women’s category.
Gangaprasad Sanjaula was elected under the disability category, Ajay Kumar Ghimire under the professional and subject expert category, and Bishal Tamang under the workers’ category.
