PARSA, June 20: The Internal Revenue Office in Birgunj has surpassed its revenue collection target for the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, 2024/25. According to the office, it collected Rs 8.52 billion in revenue by the end of Jestha (mid-June), exceeding the target of Rs 7.51 billion set by the Inland Revenue Department.
Chief Tax Officer Tikaraj Chaulagain stated that the office achieved 113.36 percent of its target during this period. In excise duty alone, the office had aimed to collect Rs 2.84 billion, but managed to bring in Rs 4.05 billion, 142.28 percent of the target.
Revenue collection by Birgunj customs office exceeds target

Under income tax, the office surpassed its Rs 2.32 billion goal by collecting Rs 2.55 billion, achieving 109.94 percent. Additionally, Rs 251 million was collected under rental tax.
However, in Value Added Tax (VAT), the office fell short. Against a target of Rs 2.22 billion, it managed to collect Rs 1.83 billion. The total annual revenue target for the office has been set at Rs 8.71 billion.
