KATHMANDU, April 26: Kushadevi Area Development Committee is organizing Bihabar Tourism Festival in Bihabar area of Kavre on April 28-30. 

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the committee said that it was organizing programs like half marathon, cycling and hiking along with other several tourism activities Bihabar Tourism Festival. The festival will also have exhibition of local vegetables, fruits and local cuisines. Similarly, cultural programs and traditional dances will also be showcased during the festival, according to Purushottam Adhikary, vice president of the festival organizing committee. 

On the first day of festival, a hiking will be organized from Panauti till Gurdum Danda. On the same day, paragliding will organized for the first time in Kavre district from 12 noon, the organizers said in a press statement. 

Similarly, a half marathon will be organized on the second day, while a cycling event will be organized on the concluding day. 

The organizers estimate around 100,000 visitors to participate in the festival. 

"Despite having several tourist attractions, the Bihabar area has lagged in terms of tourism development. The festival is expected to promote the area as a happening destination for domestic as well as foreign tourists," the organizers added in the statement.
