Bidhan Shrestha scores crucial half-century in Province 4 win over APF

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Mekh Bahadur Sen and Raju Gurung of Province 4 shared 11-run partnership in a tense chase of 216 runs to secure a sensational one-wicket win over Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the ongoing Manmohan Memorial (MM) Cup Group ‘D’ match at the Inaruwa’s Cricket Ground in Inaruwa on Saturday.

Province 4 scored two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth ball of the last over before smashing a boundary in the last ball when it required four in the last over to secure the win against the departmental team. 

Kamal Singh Airee bowled the last over for APF with first three dots in the over.

Earlier in the chase, Anil Gurung and Bidhan Shrestha laid a ground for the chase scoring 64 and 61 individual runs respectively. Similarly, Manzil Neupane scored 31 runs to help Province 4 win the match against the heavyweight. Anil Kumar Sah, who was recently dropped from the Nepal’s national team, picked up four wickets for APF.

APF won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 215 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Left-arm spinner Bhuvan Karki top scored for the team with 36 runs supported by Irshad Ahmed’s unbeaten 30 runs and Sah’s 26 runs. Shrestha was adjudged the player of the match for his crucial contribution.
