KATHMANDU, June 27:Bhola Bikram Thapa, the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Bulgaria in Nepal, has received the Golden Lourel Bough decoration from Republic of Bulgaria.

Bulgarian ambassador to Nepal, Petko Dykov, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria, handed over the decoration to Thapa amid a function held recently in Kathmandu.

Issuing a statement, the Bulgarian consulate in Kathmandu said that Thapa has been honored in recognition of his services in further cementing diplomatic and economic ties between Nepal and Bulgaria.

The decoration is considered the highest Bulgarian award for civilians. Nepal and Bulgaria established diplomatic ties on April 15,1968. The Bulgarian consulate was established in Kathmandu on June 17, 2011.
