KATHMANDU, June 28: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has expressed solidarity with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane. He reached the RSP's central office in Banasthali on Saturday and participated in the signature campaign launched by the party.
Talking to a group of journalists after the signing, former PM Bhattarai termed the treatment meted out to Lamichhane as a "political vendetta". He accused the old powers of trying to "foeticide" new and alternative forces.

"There is a saying in English that you should not only be good but also look good. Democracy is the rule of law, but in the case of Lamichhane, the act of detaining people's representatives in one case after another for months and not allowing them to fulfill the duties of the people's representatives seems to have worked with a different purpose than the rule of law," Bhattarai said.
He added, "Knowing that Krishna will be born to cause his own death, just as Kansa tried to kill Krishna before being born from his sister's womb, the old powers try to kill the newly emerging powers in the same way." ’
Dr. Recalling the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty by the court', Bhattarai said the current developments smack of political vendetta and it is not right.
"This incident is fitting the groundwork for the emergence of alternative and new forces," he said, "The general public is understanding the wrong actions and intentions of the old forces. ’
He stressed the need to fight the old, corrupt and declining forces by collaborating on fundamental issues between alternative and new powers and in some cases competing.
