Bhari stars in charity match

KATHMANDU, April 14: Nepal ‘B’ has won the charity T20 cricket match ‘Matribhumi Cup’ played at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur against Nepal ‘A’ by 14 runs on Saturday. Nepal ‘B’, led by Gyanendra Malla, won the toss and elected to bat first before scoring 144 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.

Pradeep Airee top scored with 46 runs for batting team. Bhuvan Karki picked up two wickets for Nepal ‘A’. In reply, Nepal ‘A’ led by Paras Khadka was limited to 120 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Anil Kumar Sah top scored for losing team with 41 runs.

Player of the match Sushan Bhari picked up four wickets to help team ‘B’ triumph the only match. The charity match was played to collect funds for the construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitwan led by Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation. The match in which Rs 300 was charged for entry however witnessed small number of spectators. The match was postponed for a week from last Saturday after it was abandoned due to rain.
